Bicameral Congress
The
constitution immediately established bicameralism in the legislative branch,
because it has reasons for historical, practical, and theoretical. Historically-
during the 1300s the British parliament wanted two houses. Some of the framers
figured out that the bicameralism worked out pretty well. Practical- most of
the framers had a conflict with the New Jersey Plan and the Virginia plan. Also
bicameralism is a form of federalism. Theoretical- the framers liked the idea
of the bicameral congress; they thought it was a way to check everything. The framers
also thought that the bicameralism was a great way to diffuse the power of
congress and so that it will prevent it from overwhelming the government
branches.
